Résumé

Since the mid-1990s and especially during the 2000s, the arrival of students of foreign origin to the Spanish educational system has posed a significant challenge and has strained it. Faced with this new reality, primary education centers have been incorporating, in their discourse and planning (center documents) and in their practices, the need to act to integrate newly arrived students and to ensure that everyone perceives cultural diversity as something present and normal in contemporary societies. Based on a survey of 1,730 representatives of school management teams, this study analyzes the degree of concreteness of intercultural education in documents and in practical implementation. Results show that, although important steps have been taken, they also show that there is still a considerable way to go, especially in schools with a lower presence of students of foreign origin, where this issue is not perceived as a priority for them and where they do not act as much in this direction.
