In several works by Galdós we find references to architectural works that respond to narrative requirements, charged with symbolic aspects. They have less literary value and more interest for the history of taste. In these mentions the levels of significance are multiplied: realistic setting, psychological function, artistic taste of the characters or reflection of a still indefinite patrimonial concern. Tangentially, a dense and polyvalent description of the urban effects of the Industrial Revolution
