Doctor by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona with the thesis Effects of helminth co-infections on tuberculosis status in a wildlife reservoir 2016. Supervised by Dr. Emmanuel Antonio Serrano Ferrón, Dr. Pedro Fernández Llario.

Diana Gassó (1984) is a clinical veterinarian with over fifteen years of experience, specializing in wildlife and animal health. She holds a Master’s degree in Terrestrial Ecology and Biodiversity Management (2011) and a PhD in Animal Medicine and Health (2016) from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, where she carried out her research within the Wildlife Health and Ecopathology Service (SEFaS). She has combined research work with university teaching—first as an adjunct professor at the UAB (2014–2017), later at the University of Lleida (2019–2022), and currently as a lecturer at the latter institution. Committed to an integrative view of health, her work focuses on the study of infectious and parasitic diseases in wildlife, particularly within the framework of global and ecosystem health. Her current research interests include wildlife health surveillance, the role of certain species—especially those with unbalanced population dynamics—as bioindicators or sentinels of environmental health risks, and the interactions between wildlife, the environment, and human health. In parallel with her academic career, she has participated in two Rugby World Cups (2014 and 2017), demonstrating a long-standing commitment to sport.
