Resum

The present paper seeks to review the literature on social media in tourism, to provide a description of the development, impact and challenges presented to know the level of implementation of social networking sites in the tourism offices of the Spanish Autonomous Communities. Furthermore we want to analyze the tools and the strategies that lead out in response to the increasing and the proliferation of the networks and the competitiveness of touristic destinations. The goal of this study is to demonstrate the relationship and the interest in this type of analysis to improve the management of social networking to the demands of nowadays’ society and to adapt the strategies of promoting touristic destinations.
