Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyze the front pages of six Spanish newspapers published the day of the news of Osama Bin Ladens death to establish whether it created a global icon image that could be associated with this news. The study shows that the absence of images of the terrorist dead body caused that the print media illustrated this news with photographs of diverse topics (such as archival footage or reactions of politicians), but without finding an icon image that remains forever linked to this news.
