Abstract

Given the discrepancies between what should theoretically be an inclusive institution and day-to-day reality in cultural institutions, it is necessary to review the concept of inclusion and its practices. In this study, we deal with the analysis of the conceptions from professionals that work in heritage and educational contexts on the concept of inclusion and inclusive museum; of the factors for cultural exclusion; and inclusive practices. In order to analyze these conceptions, a specific tool was developed, which includes variations of qualitative and quantitative techniques like Delphi and networks analysis. The outcomes draw a reality in which professionals, as a group, have neither a definition nor a clear model of inclusion that allows them to make genuinely inclusive planning or management of cultural institutions.
