Resumen

The present research aims to illustrate some data on academic plagiarism among university students and the use they make of bibliographic sources when producing an academic text. It also examines the students’ use of bibliography and describes how they search for academic information. This study was carried out at the University of Lleida, through an online questionnaire administered to first-year students. The results show that students have difficulty searching for information required in the academic context, and are less competent than they think. What is more, students prefer digital sources but look for information in a non-linear and unplanned way using unsophisticated criteria.
