Resumen

A total of 11 pig farms (2 buildings each) raising (Landracex Large-White) x Pietrain hybrids from 19 to 100 kg live-weight were used to study the effects of fattening period (cool vs. warm season) and feeding phase (1: 20-40 kg, 16.7% crude protein (CP); 2: 40-70 kg, 15.6% CP and 3: 70-100 kg, 14.8% CP) on productive performance, slurry yield and its composition during 2 consecutive growing-finishing periods. The feed conversion rate was greater in the cool than in warm period of year (P<0.05). The slurry yield and its dry matter content was similar between periods of year (P>0.10) but the cool period induced lower slurry density and greater organic and ammoniacal nitrogen content than the warm period (P<0.05). Water use by pigs and several slurry traits (electrical conductivity, temperature and ammoniacal nitrogen) increased as the fattening cycle progressed (P<0.05), whereas phosphorus content of slurry decreased (P<0.05).
